NEWS

— Μία από τις πλέον πολύκροτες δικαστικές διαμάχες στη σύγχρονη ιστορία των comics έφτασε στο τέλος της, καθώς δικαστήριο στη Νέα Υόρκη αποφάσισε ότι οι κληρονόμοι Jack Kirby δεν δικαιούνται μερίδιο από τα copyrights των χαρακτήρων τους οποίους ο Kirby συν-δημιούργησε για τη Marvel τη δεκαετία του 1960. Η απόφαση βασίστηκε στo ότι η δημιουργία των χαρακτήρων έγινε κατά παραγγελία, γεγονός το οποίο αποδεικνύεται από το ότι ο Kirby αμειβόταν με τη σελίδα.

— Άλλο ένα San Diego Comic-Con έφτασε στο τέλος του και όπως αναμενόταν σχεδόν όλες οι ειδήσεις από τον κόσμο των comics περνούσαν μέσα από αυτό. — Όπως ανακοίνωσε ο συν-δημιουργός του Asterix, Albert Uderzo, ο επόμενος, τρίτος κατά σειρά, συγγραφέας του δημοφιλούς γαλλικού comic θα είναι ο Jean-Yves Ferri. Υπενθυμίζουμε ότι ο Uderzo είχε διαδεχθεί στο σενάριο, τον συγγραφέα και συν-δημιουργό του Asterix, René Goscinny, όταν ο τελευταίος απεβίωσε.  Το σχέδιο των νέων ιστοριών που θα γράφει ο Ferri, ανέλαβε ο συνεργάτης του Uderzo, Frederic Mebarki.

— Δυστυχώς, το Xeric Award ολοκληρώνει τον κύκλο του, το 2012.  Ο Peter Laird (που το 1984 εξέδωσε μόνος το comic του TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES) έδινε από το 1992 και κάθε χρόνο, βραβείο σε δύο δημιουργούς, χρηματοδοτώντας την έκδοση των comics τους. Αρκεί να σκεφτεί κανείς τους Adrian Tomine, Jessica Abel, και Farel Dalrymple, που υπήρξαν παραλήπτες του Xeric Award, για να καταλάβει κανείς πόσο θα λείψει αυτός ο θεσμός.

— Εντυπωσιακά καλές οι εισπρακτικές επιδόσεις της ταινίας CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER καθώς το πρώτο σαββατοκύριακο της εξόδου της στις αίθουσες βρέθηκε στην πρώτη θέση του box office με $65.8 εκατομμύρια, γεγονός που την καθιστά την μέχρι στιγμής πιο επιτυχημένη υπερηρωική ταινία της χρονιάς, με την ταινία THOR να ακολουθεί σε απόσταση “αναπνοής” με $65.7 εκατομμύρια και τρίτο το X-MEN: FIRST CLASS με $55.1 εκατομμύρια.

— Προφανώς με την αρχή ότι “το νόμιμο είναι και ηθικό”, η Marvel ξαναχτυπά με το πρόγραμμα “Comics for Comics”, στο οποίο -την πρώτη φορά- πρόσφεραν στους retailers ένα τεύχος με variant εξώφυλλο, για έναν αριθμό εξωφύλλων από το event της DC, Blackest Night.  Αυτή τη φορά προσφέρουν ένα variant του FEAR ITSELF #6 για 50 εξώφυλλα από το event FLASHPOINT της DC.  Σύμφωνα με τη Marvel, την προηγούμενη φορά επιστράφησαν 10.000 εξώφυλλα.
